Playing music quietly in the background in lessons can stimulate better concentration and learning according to some scientists. We put this theory to the test at a secondary school in Birmingham. We recruited musician Vo Fletcher to play recorded music in the background during science lessons at Moseley School.
Will background music improve your concentration?These findings suggest that people will learn more when revising for an exam or perform better at work if tasks are performed in silence regardless of personality type, and frequency of listening to music when working does not affect performance. So to conclude: no, listening to music unfortunately won’t increase your concentration.
Does background music effect persons concentration?These two researches have shown that background music can have a positive or negative effect on our concentration and how well we work during tasks. Concentration rate can be varied by the genre of music.
